Thanks to everyone who took the time to donate during the Daniel De-Gale Blood Donation Week.
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) would like to thank everyone who took the time to donate during the Daniel De-Gale Blood Donation Week. Hundreds of donors turned out across the country to support the event, held in memory of the ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust) charity spearhead Daniel De-Gale who survived leukaemia, but unfortunately passed away aged 21 in 2008 due to other complications with his health.

Birmingham residents asked to help save lives during Daniel De Gale donation week
Leading leukaemia charity, the ACLT in association with the National Blood Service, part of NHS Blood and Transplant, are calling for all African, Caribbean, Asian and mixed race individuals across the country to come forward to commemorate the legacy of an inspirational individual, Daniel De-Gale, by attending a blood donation session to give blood.
Daniel De-Gale Blood Donation Week takes place between 3 – 8 October 2011, at the start of Black History Month.

Winter weather threatens blood donation
NHS Blood and Transplant is urging donors to make a special effort to keep their appointments as the early arrival of snow and freezing conditions has led to the cancellation of dozens of blood donor sessions across England and North Wales. Today alone, (Wednesday 1st December) a total of 25 sessions have been called off and up to 2000 fewer donations made.

NHSBT bad weather reminder to blood donors
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is reminding blood donors to make every effort to attend upcoming sessions, where it is feasible to do so.
The last fortnight of bad weather has lead to the cancellation of some sessions across the country.

The cast of Beauty and the Beast, at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre, have given their backing to the National Blood Service (NBS) campaign to get more people to sign up as blood donors.

Top award nominations for NHSBT’s work on the front line
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has been named on the shortlist twice in this years Military and Civilian Health Partnership Awards.
Dr Heidi Doughty, a Consultant Haemotologist with NHSBT in Birmingham and a Territorial Army Reservist, has been shortlisted for the 2009 Healthcare Reservist of the Year Award.
